When I was conceiving the design of this space, the idea of perfectly blending traditional Chinese charm with the comfort of modern living was constantly swirling in my mind.
Upon entering the living room, the large – scale landscape mural is the first thing that catches the eye. It serves as the visual focal point of the entire space. I chose this mural because I hoped to incorporate the yearning for natural landscapes in Chinese aesthetics. The flowing ink colors, free – hand – style mountains, paired with the red sun and flying birds, are like presenting a poetic scroll, endowing the space with profound cultural heritage.

I put a lot of thought into the living room furniture layout. The sofa is adorned with a variety of throw pillows featuring Chinese – style elements or natural patterns, with rich yet harmonious colors. The coffee table is made of sturdy wood, with simple and smooth lines. It is both practical and in perfect harmony with the overall style. The adjacent Chinese – style chairs draw on the lines of traditional round – backed chairs, yet have been refined in line with modern ergonomics at the details. They offer a comfortable sitting experience while fully showcasing Chinese elegance. The chandelier above is designed in a Chinese – style motif. The light filtering through the lampshade emits a soft and warm glow, creating a cozy atmosphere.
Looking deeper into the space, the open – plan kitchen and dining area are connected to the living room. The wine cabinet is designed to meet storage needs while also displaying wines and fine tableware. I deliberated repeatedly over the choice of materials and lighting for the wine cabinet. The dark – colored cabinet body paired with warm – toned lighting creates an elegant atmosphere. Further back, the dining area’s tables and chairs are also in a Chinese style. Their simple shapes echo those of the living room furniture, maintaining a consistent style throughout the space.
The design of the staircase is also a crucial part. I used stone to create the steps and incorporated wooden elements in the handrail, combining modern texture with the warmth of Chinese – style materials. The green plants and ornaments beside it add vitality and charm to the space.
The color scheme of the entire space is based on neutral tones, complemented by the warm hues of wood and the fresh tones of the landscape mural, creating a tranquil, elegant, and comfortable living atmosphere. Through this design, I hope that those who are in this space can not only feel the unique charm of Chinese culture but also enjoy the convenience and comfort of modern living. This is not just a living space, but also a haven that carries Chinese sentiments and the aesthetics of life.
